i’ve always hated the phrase “touch base” as in “let’s touch base”, my old supervisor would always say “let’s touch base” without explaining what he meant by it so I’d have to ask him for clarification and now whenever anyone says it i wonder if they’re intentionally trying to be vague or if they’re actually trying to make specific plans or maybe everyone who frequently says it has been reading the same handbook on how to be approachable with your employees. when my supervisor would say it, he’d say stuff like “come to the main office to touch base” and I would be like…uhh…do I need to bring anything…how long will this take…do I need a whole day off of school for this…and at what time…??? like, you can’t just tell someone you want to touch base but not elaborate on what you mean by that…it’s just one of those phrases where you could say it…or you could choose from hundreds of more effective ways to communicate that you need someone to fill out paperwork in your office at a certain time…or that you just want to make sure you’re both in agreement about job expectations or whatever it is

Posted in adult thing, does this bother anyone else, it makes me cringe, what is this
