It still amazes me how many shapes and sizes fungi comes in. I am also privileged to live in Aotearoa New Zealand which has such a diverse and accessible range to photograph. This fungus belongs to a family called Clavariaceae. Clavariaceae is made up of 9 genera, which are collectively known as Coral fungus. It’s easy to see why when looking at this example. Given the bright yellow branching body I believe this to be from the genus Ramariopsis. Ramariopsis has many similar species in NZ making further identification hard without the proper tools.
