My partner secretly recorded me painting a landscape while we watched the livestream of Justin McElroy excitedly talking about Disney World, even though neither of us care about Disney World (we just wanted to hear the comfort of his voice during these trying times). This is relaxing for ME to watch, and I’m in it, so maybe it will bring some comfort to you as well.

P.S. Here are some of the quick tiny gouache paintings I’ve been doing to chill out

My friend Vess drew me (and my rats), and I am BLOWN AWAY by how much work she put into the mushrooms and lichens. Look at this good art.

Man harvesting reishi. Artist unknown.

Also I am submitting a manuscript for publication by the end of the semester, and I am spending way too much time thinking about the color schemes for my figures and how to make them as visually appealing as possible.

Found a ruyi scepter on a porcelain figure in a thrift shop. Unexpected, but fascinating. These scepters are meant to represent good health and fortune and are modeled after the humble reishi.
