Category: Stropharia rugosoannulata

I started a Wine Cap (Stropharia rugusoannulata) patch in my backyard. I had to finish it in the dark because I was eager to finish it before the rain starts tonight/early am. It’s just a shit ton of straw spread out surrounding some inoculated wood chip spawn I bought from Fungaia Farm. I had started a Wine Cap patch with a similar method a couple years ago but with considerably less spawn and over a smaller area so I hope this method works on a larger scale and provides me with some sweet garden giants once the mycelium becomes established

Purple spores

Wine caps re-emerging for the first time since December. I was worried the patch had died off, but it’s still going strong!

Cute lil ring

In 24 hrs, this mushroom cap faded in color. For proper mushroom identification, make sure you observe combined features at various growth stages, as color and size can change quickly over time.
